PI 132 / 2015 From Girls’ Day to a dream career

Press release 31st March 2015

GeBE shows girls new perspectives

Germering, March 31, 2015.

Since the first Girls‘ Day in 2001, many apprenticeships or study programs for young women have led to dream careers that initially did not seem like an option for them at all. For GeBE Elektronik und Feinwerktechnik GmbH in Germering, the motivation is enough to open the doors to female students from the 5th grade once a year. On April 23, 2015, Girls‚ Day – Future Day for Girls, the company from Germering offers interesting tasks to 5 female students. The girls learn their craft, realize that technical subjects can be exciting and how exciting the previously unknown areas of work are. The crowning achievement for all involved is always the proud faces when the students have made their own memento of this day.

In the family business, some women are employed in professions where they are still relatively rare. This means that the girls encounter female role models such as engineers, electronic engineers, programmers and designers, as well as industrial electronics technicians and electrical engineers. They all have an open ear for the questions of the visitors, just as the GeBE managers Sandra Pabst and Brigitte Breidenbach, who accompany their young guests throughout the day.

Trusting with the journey

GeBE is very keen on helping interested girls develop their professional future at Girls‘ Day. Often, they are not as confident as they ultimately are capable of being. Therefore, they can practically test their skills in various jobs there. In addition, they can make initial contacts. So far, there have been clearly positive Girls‘ Day experiences at GeBE. The students were always very motivated and were able to take on a lot more at the end of the day after successfully turning, milling, and soldering. „That is exactly what they should take with them on their future path,“ says Managing Director Sandra Pabst. „The image of technical professions among young women is also a factor that should not be underestimated; this continues to grow year after year among the participants. That is why we have been involved for many years and will continue to support this orientation day.“
