The selection of thermal paper for industry
The interplay between thermal paper and the printer determines the quality of the printout. We look at both sides and present a test system for thermal printing.
The quality of the thermal paper used does not mean that the printout is of good quality either. Thermal paper is used to create purchase receipts, admission and ticket tickets, to print Lotto receipts and bank statements, and to record measurement data. Self-adhesive thermal labels with barcodes, for example, are used for fruit and vegetable scales, for luggage tags, and for warehouse management. In all of the aforementioned applications, the environmental conditions are different. A thermal paper that is incorrectly selected for the application has significant effects on the printout and can even damage a thermal printer.
