Thermopapier auf Herz und Nieren prüfen:

Testgerät für Thermodruck entwickelt beim Thermodrucker Hersteller GeBE

GeBE development GeBE-PRINTER LAB® as reference system for paper manufacturers

Germering, March 31st, 2021.

GeBE Elektronik und Feinwerktechnik GmbH, Germering, Germany, presents the highly specialized test printer GeBE-PRINTER LAB® for tests in the development of new products as well as for production control in the paper industry. With this device, thermal papers are put through their paces and optimized for the thermal printing process.

The impetus for the joint new development with GeBE was the need of Mitsubishi HiTec Paper Europe GmbH, Flensburg, Germany, for a reference system for thermal papers, which should also support their development process. Particular attention was paid on improving handling – based on comparable test systems – and significantly accelerating revisions. In addition, operating errors should be largely ruled out. As practice at Mitsubishi shows, GeBE has successfully implemented all this needs. „The reproducibility of the measured values is high and I can really point out our satisfaction in using the GeBE-PRINTER LAB. It helps us to meet our high quality goals,“ Matthias Neukirch, Head of Quality Assurance at Mitsubishi in Flensburg, expresses. Mitsubishi HiTec Paper Europe GmbH is a German subsidiary of Mitsubishi Paper Mills Ltd., Japan, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of specialty paper.

Absolute precision for unadulterated results

Thanks to precise, linear paper guidance the GeBE test printer is suitable for single sheets, e.g. A4, as well as for paper rolls, e.g. for long-term tests and for any paper thickness, without changing settings. Different manufacturer’s printheads can be exchanged very quickly, and „the calibration of newly installed printheads is very easy to carry out using the calibration software,“ Neukirch says.

The vertical printhead positioning system obviates alignment errors caused by the paper thickness and thus automatically prevents this otherwise typical source of error.

Papierfabrik August Koehler SE, with headquarters in Oberkirch, also uses the GeBE test printer for continual quality control and optimization in one of its four plants in Germany, Koehler Kehl GmbH. The company for specialty papers is in a leading position at the world market with thermal papers and cardboard for playing cards.

Kanzan Spezialpapiere GmbH, Düren, Germany, also uses the GeBE-PRINTER LAB as a test device for quality monitoring in the production of thermal paper. KANZAN is part of the Oji Group in Japan, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of thermal papers, which has manufacturing subsidiaries in many countries.

Simplified handling, convincing software, decades of experience

On request, the system is compatible with comparable printers on the market and more easy to set. Its test program can be used to set and save test-relevant parameters on the PC and transmit the measured information to the software. For example, the print energy, print speed, print head pressure or print head alignment can be changed while other parameters remain constant. At the end of a test a printed report is available.

This specific reference system for the paper manufacturing industry is based on the GeBE thermal printing know-how of more than 35 years. It is also suitable for manufacturers of printers, printing mechanisms and print heads, because it helps to optimize the „complete thermal printer system“ including all its components from an economic and scientific point of view. In addition to the GeBE standard portfolio, the company from Germering mainly offers OEM adaptations and new developments – even from smaller series on.
